EU PROMOTES CENTRAL ASIAN NETWORKS OF JUDICIAL AND LEGAL TRAINING INSTITUTIONS

Event date: From 22/06/2016 to 23/06/2016

On 22-23 June 2016, the EU-funded projects “Promotion of Rule of Law in the Kyrgyz Republic” and the “EU-Central Asia Rule of Law Platform” will co-organise a regional conference on “Networks of Judicial and Legal Training Institutions – Factor for the Success of Judicial Reform“, in Bishkek (Kyrgyz Republic), in the framework of the EU Rule of Law Initiative for Central Asia.

The conference will foster dialogue and exchange of experience on the need to develop, in a systematic way, programmes of initial and on-going vocational judicial and legal training, in the area of decision drafting, methodology, execution of court decisions, and sharing of comparative law information and best training practices. It will initiate regular exchanges between judges, public prosecutors, practicing lawyers and other legal professionals and will identify cooperation between Central Asian legal training centres and relevant training institutions in the European Union.

The conference will gather representative of training institutions for judges, public prosecutors, lawyers and other legal professions from the five Central Asian States. Il will aim at deepening the dialogue that has begun with the four Conferences of Ministers on rule of law of the European Union and Central Asia countries in 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2014, and will contribute to the preparation of the Fifth Ministerial Conference, which is scheduled to take place in Brussels towards the end of 2016.
